The APEnet consortium held its second General Assembly in the city of León in Spain on Wednesday the 30th of June 2010, during which the APEnet project management team informed all APEnet partners on the progress of the project and involved them in the next steps towards the launch of the pilot of the Archives Portal Europe in january 2011.
The venue of the 2nd APEnet General Assembly was the headoffice of the Spanish National Institute of Communication Technologies, INTECO, because one of the most important parts of establishing the Archives Portal Europe – the technical development of the portal itself – will be performed by this institute, which is renowned to be a platform for the development of the Knowledge Society through projects in the area of innovation and technology. So the APEnet project will benefit from the competence and the technical development skills provided by the experienced Inteco personnel that have been assigned to the project.
The day before the General Assembly, on Tuesday the 29th of June 2010, the León/Inteco based APEnet work package 2 team, lead by Jara Álvarez Aller, hosted most APEnet partners in the same Inteco building to update them on the progress of work package 2 issues.
